Learn about no-cost or reduced cost programs in California

Before participating in a financing program, it’s a good idea to do research. GoGreen Financing has compiled the following information about no-cost options available through the investor-owned utilities.

Do you qualify for assistance?

Many Californians qualify for assistance programs through their energy company – like Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric Company, Southern California Edison Company and SoCalGas®. Before proceeding with an energy efficiency financing program, explore these programs below and others available through your energy company.

California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program

If you are income constrained, you may qualify for a discount on your gas and electric bills through the CARE program. To see if you qualify, visit the CARE program pages on your energy company’s website.

Energy Savings Assistance program

The Energy Savings Assistance program provides no-cost weatherization services for households who meet the CARE income guidelines. Services provided through the Energy Savings Assistance program include attic insulation, energy efficient refrigerators, energy efficient furnaces, weatherstripping, caulking, low-flow showerheads, water heater blankets, and door and building envelope repairs to reduce air infiltration.

To see if you qualify, visit the Energy Savings Assistance program pages on your energy company’s website.

Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program

If your family’s household income is slightly higher than the low-income requirements for the CARE program, you may qualify for the FERA program. To see if you qualify, visit the FERA program pages on your energy company’s website.
